NOTE: You need to duct tape the camera cable about every 3' onto a manual snake so you can run it the full length. Tare the tape into about 1/2" strips about 3" long ,and dog-ear the end as you wrap it. It will save much labor in taking it back apart. We're new in our senior's community, one month, and a neighbor two doors down just spent $32,000 fixing a clogged drain. I freaked out!!! Had to jackhammer his earthquake resistant garage and house floors! Insurance did not cover it! They are distraught! And another neighbor just spent $7,000 for a drain problem! I noticed the tree roots were pushing up the driveway, and the sewer drain is only about 2ft from that point. Sure enough! When I ran my hand snake in, it stopped at that point, so I put on the camera to check, and sure enough. Now to get a power auger. I put one from Amazon in my cart, saying it would be here Wednesday after next, already too long, but before I hit the place order, I saw a side note that they would email me with a ship date! NO THANKS! I can, and will buy it from Harbor Freight for $110 less with a coupon. I prefer Amazon, even for more $, and I hate going into The Hood to shop, 22 miles away, and I have to intermingle with people, and I'm almost 80, so have that concern. Anyway, the camera did the job. I got the 32 ft version, and glad I did. It showed the drain clear all the way into the street. A final caution: Beware of all of the augers for sale, and dig into the reviews. Harbor Freight says you cannot return it if it's opened due to safety reasons! Duh! What B.S.! How else would you know if it works at all! I may end up making my own root cutter using a circular hole saw modified to fit onto a 3/8" snake and powered by my 3/8" drill. The root is only about 10 ft. from the access hole. Good luck!...for the money, this is a great digital scope!There is another brand (Oiiwak) that looked almost identical to this Nidage model but I decided to go with Nidage because there web site looked a bit more professional than the other brand. Nidage actually offers a USB software for desktop/laptop so the camera can be attached directly.Picture quality is good (but could have been a tad better), video quality was better though.There is a sight delay to sensors for light adjustments but not an issue for me. My only beef would be the zoom option. Instead of burying it in the "Settings" menu, I really wished they had a knob on the unit similar to the LED brightness adjustment for quick and easy access.As of this review, there is only one version of the 4.3-inch industrial endoscope, which does not need to be updated. The software on the website is for their WIFI product. To get the USB software which allows you to connect the device directly to a desktop/laptop:1. Using a search engine and using the brand name, visit the company web site (I am unable to actually write the link here because of Amazon's fantastic rules and regulations which often makes me wonder why anyone even bothers to take the time to write a review on anything they bought).2. Then select SUPPORT3. Then select <> software from the list4. From the opening page, click on [“ViewPlayCap” USB Computer software download] linkIf you need a basic digital scope to use for chorus around the house or your garage (me), this is a solid choice for the money!Please see the attached photos of the device and its basic functions.What’s good about this product: (i) The image resolution on the screen is great. (ii) The illumination provided to the imaging lens is fantastic - along with software to adjust the level of illumination so that it is never too bright, nor too dim. (iii) The lens cable is sturdy and flexible so that is can be easily positioned where you need to see.What's not-so-good about this product: (i) The instructions are a disaster - they don't even indicate how to charge the battery, or even how to check the battery charge level. (ii) The batteries are lithium ion batteries sealed in the case - so no easy way to replace them after they die in about 5-7 years. At that time my only options are to find a way to break apart the case and possibly replace the batteries (not likely), replace the unit, or (hopefully) power the unit with an after-market external 5V USB battery power supply (which costs more that the unit itself!). Why couldn't they design the unit with replaceable batteries? (Maybe they are trying to force us into replacing the entire unit every 6 years.) (iii) The screen is very hard to see even in minimal sunlight. (iv) I would gladly pay an extra $20 or more for image stabilization software - if the probe is not held perfectly still, the image is so blurry that it's basically of no use.I would give this unit 3.5 stars if I could, but decided to be generous and up it to 4 stars, mostly based on what you get for the relatively low price.I waited a long to before buying an inspection score because of all the different options and conflicting reviews. I finally just picked one and hoped for the best.For the price this scope is worth it. I’m using it for working on cars. It seems pretty tolerant of oil/grease.The focus and lighting can sometimes take a few seconds to figure themselves out, but otherwise I have no complaints.I don’t use any of the extra functions (the orange buttons), so I can’t tell you how well those work. I use the on-off switch and that’s it. But as a basic live video scope I don’t have any complaints at this price.completely satisfied
